Creative Skillset has recommissioned its pioneering business and management training and mentoring scheme – CCTV: Looking out for Leaders in TV – to help senior executives adapt and thrive in the face of rapidly changing creative and commercial challenges.
The 6-month scheme will see a select group of 20 senior executives, producers and entrepreneurs undergo an intensive ‘mini-MBA’-style training to develop both their practical business knowledge and their ability to manage and lead creative companies.
This will be complemented by seminars and workshops by leading industry figures on key challenges involved in starting and growing a successful TV business today - from project financing to distribution, format sales to ancillary markets, and talent deals to negotiating broadcaster agreements.
The participants – who will be drawn from across the TV industry – will each also be mentored by some of the best known and most influential executives from broadcasting and beyond – including Lorraine Heggessey, Sebastian Scott, Laura Mansfield, Murray Ferguson, Melanie Leach, Richard Davidson-Houston, Louise Pedersen, Richard Bradley, John Smithson, Terry Back, Richard Lever, Stephen Lambert, Anna Higgs, Paul Trijbits, Jeremy Gawade, Ken Anderson, Stephen McDonogh and Christine Corner.
The scheme is being designed and delivered by DV Talent, the independent film and television school, and Jill Tandy, who runs the acclaimed Inside Pictures training scheme for film industry executives, with the help of Professor John Bates, Fellow, Strategy & Entrepreneurship at the London Business School. Leadership skills will be delivered by Steve Turner of Learnlab and Janet Evans of Adsum Consulting, and executive coach Clare Brigstocke.
CCTV is being run in partnership with Lee & Thompson, the leading media and entertainment law firm, and has the support of PACT, the trade association for UK independent content producers, and Grant Thornton, one of the world’s leading tax and assurance firms and advisors to SMEs in the TV sector.
It was commissioned by Creative Skillset’s TV Skills Fund to help the next generation of industry pioneers develop a fuller understanding of the creative and commercial challenges and opportunities businesses have to contend with given new financing, production and distribution models.
The deadline for applications is 22nd February.
