How do I gain shooting experience?

I'm a studio producer but would like to add shooting to my repertoire, I shot years ago on Z1 (remember those?!) and have since completed a Canon FX305 course with DV Talent but haven't actually had the chance to shoot for broadcast, which ultimately means I'll never be able to practise my skills and apply for a shooting PD job. How do I change this? Any advice welcome!
