Sharron came on board to direct and film our BBC Studios film for BBC One “The Selfless Sikh” profiling the humanitarian work of Ravi Singh. It meant filming one on one with Ravi in a hostile zone in Iraq, thinking on her feet constructing the narrative and adding a journalistic edge by exploring the issue of sexual slavery through sensitively interviewing Yazidi women and children held captive by ISIS. She filmed and directed the whole film and through her rapport with Ravi and the Yazidis, made a heart-breaking film that resonated to a large audience of around 1.5 million on transmission , was nominated for 3 awards and won an RTS Best Single Documentary award. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend hiring Sharron to make another observational documentary such as this.
