The Grierson Trust
About Us
The Grierson Trust was established in 1972 and commemorates the pioneering Scottish documentary maker John Grierson (1898 – 1972), famous for Drifters and Night Mail and the man widely regarded as the father of documentary. The organisation is responsible for the annual the British Documentary Awards - more fondly known as The Griersons - as well as encouraging young filmmakers through its Grierson DocLab training and mentoring scheme (three schemes - one for new entrants, one for editors and another for production management) are now open for applications, the deadline is 12 Feb 2021).
